Evening Draw, work in progress

The winter is long, cold and dark here in Downeast Maine. At long last, May comes around. I was out drawing tonight until a bit past 8 PM.

Large Crow- Work in Progress, underpainting.

I’m working up a larger crow painting, 2 by 3 feet and thought I’d post a picture of the piece with the values of the crow well established but little else attended to yet. This is Ivory black oil paint, thinned with turpentine and a few drops of Canada balsam. You may recognize the image from the drawing that serves as the study for this painting and the header of this website.
