I’ve been changing the way that I build an image in an effort to improve the visual cohesion of the paintings. After I had already started this piece, I was seized by a thought and changed a few somewhat fundamental assumptions about paint application.Then I was faced with a dilemma. I needed to bring the other, already complete sections of the painting along in a similar language. Forging ahead, I’ve been using this piece as the test bed for these new ideas about color and edge.
