I am back home after a week on Great Spruce Head Island in Penobscot Bay. I stayed in the former summer home of Fairfield Porter for the annual Art Week shindig. It’s a beautiful island. After a very nice week away, it’s great to be home.

This drawing was my final effort out on Great Spruce Head Island this past week. It was a fine, fine week of painting and drawing. Also, I think that it did me a world of good to take a week out of my normal painting and drawing habits, taking the show on the road, as it were.

Near the Shore Path, in progress

Here’s a little drawing of a site that I’d painted years ago and have recently revisited. As I worked on this drawing, I came to realize that I’d really liked the shapes created by the high tide water-line. This drawing is at low tide. Whoops. So, I have some further drawings to work up as I re-familiarize myself with this bit of shoreline.
