This is painting was just finished up and popped in a frame, just in time to make the upcoming exhibition at the Wendell Gilley Museum in Southwest Harbor, Maine. Delivering tomorrow, members’ preview and reception 8/7/13.
This was a perfect morning to be out painting on Frenchman Bay. I need another 90 minutes to bang in the water and foreground but I wanted to tackle those two areas with a fresh set of eyes. I’ve been doing tons of pencil drawings rather than oil paintings. out on location. It feels great to be settling into oil paint again.
The studio building is taking shape! Once the rafters are on and the bracing done, the frame will be disassembled and moved out behind our house.
Tomorrow, I am leaving this island, heading to a smaller, quiet island in Penobscot Bay for a week of painting and drawing. Deluxe!
